Here To Say Topic - Guest Speakers

Yesterday, after lunch, the Inquirers Syndicate had 2 guest speakers, the first one was Mr Tran and then Mrs Johnstone. They talk about how the immigrated from Vietnam (Mr Tran) /South Africa (Mrs Johnstone) to New Zealand. Some of the things Mr Tran talked about were, he came to NZ in 1994, it takes 30 days to travel from Vietnam to Hong kong, he has lived here for 20 years and in Vietnam, you only get 30 minutes to collect water. Mrs Johnstone spoke about she came to New Zealand in 1986 when she was 17, she came with her mother and brother, she lived in Auckland by herself at 17 years old but she couldn't stay because she had to go back to South Africa to get a job, then she could move back to NZ and she has been in New Zealand for 28 years.

Globe Trekkers

As you may know, the Inquirers Syndicate all took part in the production, Globe Trekkers. Every classes theme was based on their chosen Commonwealth country, my class, room 13, were Asia. We all made a costume based upon our own story. My costume is called "The Sun God and His Workers". We, Jamilla Lockyer and I, really enjoy making our costume together and I think Jamilla was a really great model for our costume. The others who weren't wearing/modelling a costume got to take part in it as well. The boys who weren't modelling the costume did some sort of martial arts, where as the girls performed both a parallel/umbrella and fan dance.

Our Class Trip To Te Papa

On Monday the 4th (August), Room 13 went to Te Papa for the day.

We did the roll as usual, then hoped on the bus to go to Wellington and after about a hour we arrived at our destination, Te Papa! We already were in groups, in my group I had Tom's Mum, Jamilla, Tom, Grace and myself. The first exhibition we saw was the WOW factor wearable arts one. After that we had lunch at Frank kitts park. Once lunch was over we went to our next exhibition, the Matariki Activities. Then we all lined up and went back to school on the bus.
I think everyone thought it was fun and we would love to go back again sometime and see the other exhibits.
